The Background
After 42 years of hard work, the Nojaim family will be retiring. Despite all these years with the store, it was a decision that did not come easy to the family.
Stewart’s Shops approached Nojaim and would like to build a convenience store with ice cream and many other items being sold. They would employ local residents, pay taxes and offer the same convenience that is offered at their hundreds of locations in New York.
Why are moratoriums bad for a village?
Some in Marcellus wish to change the rules to accommodate them, instead of allowing Stewart’s Shop to present their plans at a public hearing. Moratoriums to stop one project are bad for communities, and put out a sign that says “We are closed for business”.
